With recent beef recalls for the inhumane treatment of downer cows plus the concern over e coli and mad cow disease, Fox News investigated typical supermarket feedlot beef vs the health benefits of grass fed beef.

Fox News spent the day with Dr. Patricia Whisnant. She is a veterinarian, grass farmer, the President of American Grassfed Association, owner of AmericanGrassFedBeef.com and processes USDA certified organic beef for local family farms. Her grass fed beef is certified Free Farmed Humane by American Humane.

Dr. Whisnant states that grass fed beef is healthier for consumers, safer, eco friendly, better for the environment and better for animals.

Fox News did an independent test on AmericanGrassFedBeef.com and supermarket beef. They found AmericanGrassFedBeef.com was higher in protein, lower in fat and cholesterol.

Part of our job is …
Part of our job is to provide animal comfort. beef that cannot be walked off the trailer is by law not allowed into human food supply. What this processing plant did was illegal and they payed a price. It only takes a few bad eggs to change the opinions of many. you never get to hear the good side no one seems to be interested in what is done right.

    meat is tinder due …
meat is tinder due to marbling. small amounts of fat in the meat. it is not enough fat to effect the nutrition of the meat. Also as a small feedlot owner and operator we strive to produce safe affordable food to feed you and yet we get critisized more than almost anyother occupation. If we went to all grass fed beef, the world supply of beef would be cut to less than half making impossible for the middle class to afford it. Think before you comment

    They also didnt …
They also didnt point out that grass fed beef is not fesizable. If you figure it takes about 20 acres per calf year round to finish them and the latest cattle of feed reports that there are 1.2 million head on feed in kansas alone. That would require 24 million acres of decent grass land. To put this into perspective it would take about thirteen percent of texas to host all of kansas cattle on feed. Also texas grass land is very so you would have to increase the acre per animal

    This story sounds …
This story sounds just like the TIme Magazine. News media needs to take a ethics class. They never showed anything about the real cattle industry, just the clips from the western-hallmark incident. Just becasue that happened once at one place doesnt mean that it happens everywhere. I have been in over a dozen beef plants and never seen anything like the dairy cow plant in california.

    your therory might …
your therory might be true in some cases but if everyone grass fattens there wouldn’t be enough meat in the world hence the price of meat going to unbeleivable prices making the world food shortage a bigger problem. can’t you see outside your own life. besides feedlots can produce cattle with a consistant fat and uniformed marbling in the meat, giving a premim quality. U have compared 1 dairy cow that has produced milk for years to your young steers that is very bias

    My cattle have …
My cattle have always lived a grass-fed lifestyle. Always outdoors. Its a beautiful sight. Happy cows = Happy farmers. People think cows Moo a lot. They dont. Cows Moo when they are hungry or when they want something. My cows only Moo to let their calves know where they are etc. If you go to a corporate farm you hear lots of Mooing. If you go to a natural grass-fed farm like the one in this video all you hear is the munching of the grasses… Billy
