    @pouts1231: I have never seen a manure lagoon created by a wild animal, nor have I seen the deforestation of the rainforest because of a wild animal’s diet. Maybe you should get your facts straight. Eat your meat if you will, but just know that YOUR choices DO make you responsible for the global devastation of the industry. Not my life, thanks.

    Where do you get the idea that eating meat is healthy??
    If you idea of healthy is e-coli and pfiesteria then yeah, sure it is!
    As for natural what do you base that wild assumption on?

    @seka1986: Yes, it is selfish, once you understand the impact on the planet, animals, and the human race. Just because you don’t think you are responsible doesn’t mean that you AREN’T – it just means you are in denial.

    @Portubella12458: I DO think eating meat and animal products is selfish, considering the impact the meat industry is having on the planet. And I agree with you – there are ‘crazy’ and ‘normal’ people of every genre!

    No, eating meat …
    No, eating meat isn’t what is the thing that is selfish. It’s the fact that animals like these suffer to the extent that they do yet people don’t care. If it’s cheap and ready at their doorstep then that’s fine. At least kill them humanely. And not all vegetarians are idiots just as not all non veggies are anti- animal rights.

    @seka1986

    We’re not the ones mass murdering animals just because people are too selfish to eat just vegetables or alternatives. Why is it okay to kill animals for food when cannibalism isn’t?

    To each his own, but the minute you hit out at vegetarians expect the same in return.

    As Diet For a Small …
    As Diet For a Small Planet author Frances Moore Lappé writes, “Imagine sitting down to an eight-ounce steak, then imagine the room filled with 45 to 50 people with empty bowls in front of them. For the ‘feed cost’ of your steak, each of their bowls could be filled with a full cup of cooked cereal grains.” Meat is not sustainable and contibutes to world famine.

    @1jedibabe: Or read …
    @1jedibabe: Or read “Even organically raised cows are a climate bomb” another good article about the detriment even when organic, OR “Can the US go organic without going vegetarian?” All great articles. Animal products are not essential in any way, shape, or form!

    @1jedibabe @ …
    @1jedibabe @1jedibabe: Since it takes anywhere from 5-20 pounds of grain to make 1 pound of meat, the question of which would be more Earth-friendly and human friendly is an easy one. It is NOT a necessary or “essential” product! Read Time’s article, “Will We Still Eat Meat” an excellent article about how eventually people will realize it is NOT sustainable in ANY form.

    @1jedibabe: I also …
    @1jedibabe: I also have degrees, similar to yours (Animal Science), and also in medical field. I disagree with the NEED for meat production, and side more with the China Study that state meat is NOT necessary and is a health hazard. “Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.” Albert Einstein. Thanks for watching and for your comments – I agree – say no to commercial meat!

    Meat is not a …
    Meat is not a problem if it’s locally and ethically produced. Animals are a necessary part of a sustainable, solar-based farm. They create the fertilizer and eat the plant material that we can not. As a former vegan with a BS in Animal Science and a Masters degree spent researching local farming, I’ve come to the studied position that animals are essential to a sustainable food system. It’s factory farming that’s the problem; agri-business is vile and highly unethical. Say no to commercial meat!
