Sissy Farmer (Joel Salatin on Forgiveness)
June 14th, 2010 | by admin |
Joel Salatin has more than a few ideas about how food can be grown abundantly without harm. His Polyface Farms is the very definition of carrying capacity. He’s a good example of why, in this post-AnnaNicole world, all my heros are writers, scientists and farmers.

Thank you so much Joel for the change in mindset you’re helping to foster. I can’t wait to get your book “You Can Farm” and set about farming on my own.

You’re projecting that in order to troll this video and distract from real points. Women play a large role at Polyface.

@odin422 And you …
@odin422 And you seem to have assumed that we eat large amounts of meat, when in fact we consume if very sparingly. I strongly advocate adopting diets that are predominantly plant based, especially where the land base can support it.

@odin422 “Plowing” …
@odin422 “Plowing” was more or less used as a figure of speech. But whatever, on this particular piece of ground it would require a much larger foot print to produce all our needs if we were strictly vegetarian. I could produce enough for 100 families on my farm as well, and if they ate meat, the land’s ecology and biodiversity would be far better off than if I were to put it purely into plant production—that is a fact. Productivity varies from location to location.

@georgem21275 LOL …
@georgem21275 LOL man you must be something really wrong. Plowing?…..laughable. Try no-till farming, man with 40 acres i could sustain 100 humans easy.
Enjoy that meat.

I live on a 40 acre …
I live on a 40 acre farm, for several years I was a vegetarian—well over a decade. In spite of maintaining large gardens, most food needs were satisfied at the store. Now that we have started eating meat, we can easily produce a far greater percentage of our caloric needs on-site without necessitating plowing up the land. If we were to rely exclusively on a plant based diet, produce it here (including grain and legumes), the indigenous ecology would have to be displaced—not good.

Mr. Salatin, I have …
Mr. Salatin, I have just finished watching Food and I must tell you that you words have filled me with hope in a better world. You have certainly showed that another United States exists; that there are good people who just want to live comfortable without causing any damage either to people or the economy. Your thoughts and lifestyle are similiar to our country people, on the Pampas Argentinas, especially in Entre Rios.

Lots of respect for this guy. Native Americans showed the same respect to the animals that they hunted and used to provide for their families and community they they showed to their own ancestors. To disrespect the very food you eat is to poison yourself. This guy has his together.

I am from the occupied land of Palestine and I feel with the American Farmer. Farmers are losing their freedom in this country and people don’t know that means our food is turned to POISON by INTENTION!!wake up sheeple.

Joel Salatin is so intelligent and well-spoken. He totally destroys the stereotypes of dull southern farmers, and then some,.
His philosophies towards sustainable agriculture are so revolutionary, partly because they’re based on common-sense and good moral values.

That said; I should …
That said; I should state that it is not simply raw meat that captivates my attention but rather ultimate vitality in the human form. This vitality takes into context a profound understanding of balance amidst not only our internal bodily structures but also the unending array of interconnected agents that play upon our central points of experience. In other words: creepy seriousness about raw meat only scuffs the surface.

Thanks for the sincere response. Many of my comments were an avenue for striking curiosity amongst any individuals passing through. Perhaps they may choose to educate themselves further. I deeply respect your decisions yet felt it was more than necessary to question the statements you chose to contribute as though they were indeed fact. Your initial statements gave the impression that you did in fact ‘care’ enough to post unsupported statements. Ive simply given credit to an alternative view.

I just don’t care …
I just don’t care as much as you do RawRebuild. I don’t mean any insult by this, but your seriousness about raw meat seems a bit creepy.
As I said 1 mo. ago, healthy veg. all my life. What I didn’t say (for lack of characters in these dumb comments) is that I really don’t care what any of you eat.
Honestly, raw meat, bicycles, shoes; your diet doesn’t matter to me as none of those things enter my mind as food. I sleep well knowing that my footprint on the earth to sustain myself is light.
